Introduction

Welcome to my blog!

Here I will tell you everything I know about the tv shows. This is my favorite topic!

Let's start by identifying what is a TV Show.

A TV-show can be called a show consisting of a certain number of episodes, which are usually released once a week on TV. An important component of any tv show is the presence of the so-called "story arc", that is, the presence of a single problem or storyline throughout the episodes. Also, all shows are divided into seasons consisting of episodes.

Types of TV series:

  •  MULTI-PART TV MOVIE

They usually have from 3 to 15 episodes, which are based on historical or detective novels. The only popular type of TV show in the U.S.S.R.

  •  MINI-SERIES

They have a complete storyline and a small number of episodes. were most widely used in Europe until the 1980s and 1990s.

  •  SOAP OPERAS

They have an open storyline and an unlimited number of episodes. The most widely used in the United States.

  •  EPISODIC TV SHOWS

or actual television series. They originated in the United States, and since the mid-1980s have become widespread in Europe.

    There are several varieties:

Horizontal TV shows (such as "Vikings" and "Game of Thrones") - each season has a partially-completed plot, the connection between the individual episodes is strong, and the connection between the seasons is weaker.

Vertical TV shows:

Procedural dramas (e.g. "Streets of Broken Lanterns", "Killing Power") - each series has a completed plot, the connection between the individual series is weak (case-of-the-week),the storyline of the seasons is partially completed.

Situational comedies (eg. "My Beautiful Nanny", "Sasha+Masha") - each episode has a complete plot with a weak connection with other series, but the plot is not dramatic but comedic in nature.
